A connectionless data transport protocol does not require authentication, and has no error control process. This type of protocol, used in networks such as the Internet, simply allows any device to send data to any other device. Load Balancing Algorithms
A medium to large sized network will have a large amount of traffic passing through at any given time. Whether the network is configured to use connection oriented or connectionless data transfer, the traffic can pile up quickly if the network is not balanced. By using load balancing algorithms, the router can make immediate, automatic decisions in the direction of that traffic, to improve the speed and efficiency of the network.
Load balancing algorithms can be weighted, assigning different values to each server. Under this system, servers with a higher weight value will receive more traffic at any given time than a server with a lower weight value.
Load balancing algorithms are used to help routers avoid a situation in which servers get bogged down with excessive traffic. These algorithms distribute traffic across different servers to ensure that the traffic load is balanced evenly. There are several types of load balancing algorithms, including round robin and least connections. Round robin server allocation simply sends traffic to each server in turn, equally. The least connection algorithm sends traffic to the server that has the least amount of traffic going through it.

This process is also known as a "handshake" between the devices.Data transmission- During this part of the process, the sending computer waits for an acknowledgement message between each part of the transmission.
